Wonderlic Test

Wonderlic is the general name given to assessments created and provided by Wonderlic, Inc, a private company that has delivered over 200 million assessments to students and potential job candidates. The company has been in business for over 70 years and has clients in business, education, and government agencies. The company provides 30 different assessments, many of which have more than one version. If you have been asked to take a Wonderlic test, chances are it is a form of personality or cognitive ability test that an employer or school will use to determine how successful you are likely to be in a certain job or program of study.

Wonderlic is most well-known for its Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test and the shorter version, the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Pretest. The Cognitive Ability Test measures mental ability in a job candidate, including the abilities to understand and follow instructions, learn a new skill, adapt to changing circumstances, and handle any other mental demands the position may require. There are 900 different job profiles that Wonderlic will use when determining what questions to include in the test. The test can be taken online or in a written form and provides the testing company with immediate results.

The Cognitive Ability Pretest is a shortened version of Cognitive Ability Test and is designed to be taken online from the candidate's home. The test is used to save the organization time by eliminating some potential candidates before proceeding to the more costly live interview process.

Either test has three sections: verbal, math, and spatial. The test consists of all multiple choice questions, usually 50 in the cognitive ability test. The test is timed, with a limit of 12 minutes to answer the 50 questions. You should answer all of the questions that you can, as wrong answers will not count against you. Since time is such an important factor in the Wonderlic tests, using practice study guides will help you become familiar with the types of questions that you will see on the actual exam.
